If “Goodies” is what you’d hear at the glitzy, glittery discotheque of your dreams, “I Run This Club” is what the DJ’s spinning at the grimier, better party in the basement. Philly bass producer Siyoung's beat is a relentless minimalist assemblage of syncopated kick drum, vocal loops, and siren-like synths, and Cakes attacks it with an appropriately aggro flow, spitting with the kind of assuredness that suggests he’s living up to the potential that his debut mixtape The Eulogy strongly hinted at. “I Run This Club” drops September 16 on DJ Shiftee’s Hot Mom USA label."
